My husband, our three German Shepherds, & I live in Texas, I'm currently an Apparel Designer for a company called Pinpoint Merchandising. It's a great environment & I have the chance to be creative every day! I obtained a Bachelors of Fine Arts in Fashion Design, as well as the Golden Scissors Scholarship at the University of North Texas. It was one of the most life changing experiences! As a child my siblings & I were always allowed to dream & express our creativity. Our parents taught us to work hard & that no matter what you do God always comes first. These two lessons have been pillars in all three of our (my two siblings & I) lives to this day.
How the Journey Started
I started my journey towards Small Flock when I was asked by the director of the Children's Department to tell the kids a story on Saturday at our church during story time.
My idea was to talk to the kids about healthy eating habits, I looked online for activities that I could use to keep the kids interested in the topic beyond the story. I found myself frustrated because I couldn't find what I needed in Spanish & free! Then I thought, "I have Illustrator skills, why not put these skills to Gods' use?" In that my first printable project started. That night all I could think about was how this could maybe benefit other church's, the very next day I started working on building the website. Prior to that Saturday, I've always loved working with kids. I've been teaching children from the ages of 3-6 during Sabbath School for about two years straight & about 4 years before I left to college. I got an opportunity to be an assistant to the teacher of the babies class at our church, there I realized that while I love babies, I like the curiosity & interaction from toddlers.
Mission
Knowing that most teachers spend money from their own pockets for supplies & activities for their students my hope is that these free (cheaper) resources benefit not only church's but parents & schools as well.
If you benefit from any of these resources or have ideas/ requests please reach out to me.
I'd love to hear what you have to say!
Blessings,
Maria Fabré
