Kindness, I've discovered, is everything in life.

Kindness is not only for superheros! It's something that should be taught to all boys & girls.

Note: This lesson is geared for toddlers ages 3-6.

Kindness many times comes naturally to children with siblings. From a young age most kids are taught to share with their siblings, this then carries onto other areas in their daily life.

If a child doesn't have siblings, teaching them to pray for others is a great way to show them how kindness starts in our hearts which is then reflected outwards.

Teaching Kindness

These are videos I found about how our acts of kindness affect those around us.

Kindness Game

For a Classroom:

As the week starts show the class two jars, one will be full of beans/ jellybeans/ rock candy. The other will be an empty jar, let them know that these won't be to eat but instead to share in the empty KINDNESS JAR. Each act of kindness shared in the classroom & witness by others means that one bean can be placed into the KINDNESS JAR. At the end of the week if the jar is full of beans, the entire class can receive a present. If not then the classroom can try to fill the jar the following week. Until each kid has done several acts of kindness in class.

For Home:

Similar to the classroom, but as a parent you have an obligation to teach your child discipline. As the week starts show your children the two jars, one full one empty. Each act of kindness gets a bean, however each act of unkindness gets two bean removed from the KINDNESS JAR. This gives you the opportunity to teach your kids, how unkindness can be very hurtful, not only to others but sometimes even themselves.

Kindness Activity

To practice kindness everyday outside of the classroom, or to help fill the jar at home. I've created an activity to help each child do several acts of kindness. Keep in mind sometimes acts of kindness can be taken advantage of by others, so please be sure to have an adult present while the child is doing the activity. You can find the activity on my Print Me! page, or you can click on the images below. To find additional activities about kindness on my Pinterest page, check out the board titled Prayer/Oracion.
