Our sense of taste & smell are so connected, that sometimes when you crave foods, our brain is actually thinking of the smell.

This is the final activity for the month of May, all this past month we've been learning about important muscles & organs in our bodies. Today we'll be reviewing fun ideas to teach your students how the nose & tongue function.

Introducing the Tongue & Nose

Check out these videos below that help explain the topic for this week.

Experiment

I found this really good activity on another blog called Things to Share & Remember.

You start out by getting empty jars/ bottles/ container.

Then you fill it with cotton swabs that were dipped into essential oils.

You can then print out the labels provided on the blog & tape it to the bottles.

Your students can guess what each smell is!

Here's another option you can try, if you don't have time to print labels.

I found this on The Dad Lab Youtube channel.

Since students will also be learning about how our sense of taste works, check out this activity by Learn, Play, Imagine. It's similar to the blind smelling test, but in this case the kids do a blind tasting test.

My suggestion is to set up sensory stations for the kids.

They can move around at their own pace & practice with a partner.

Printable Activity

To go the extra mile, we've provide a printable activity that can be found on my Print Me! pages. The objective of the activity is to glue the images from the second page where it belongs. As usual the activity is provided in English & Spanish, with a biblical option & a non-biblical option.

**If your interested in making this a biblical lesson you can use the verse found in Genesis 2:7,8. Be sure to emphasis that God gave man the breath of life, so we are grateful!
